Many of site's content is still to be populated, that also includes images awaiting selection. Little squares represent the fact that the amount of images is not limited and the site is very likely to hit a high number of them. Which is also the reason of stacking and capability to move them about. 

I believe there are no off-the-shelf &lt;a href="http://tekkie.flashbit.net/category/flash" rel="nofollow"&gt;Flash&lt;/a&gt; sites capable of working with print-quality images, content population or eCom.</description>

Most of the brands have nothing to click except the url but Stern comes up with some minute squares on the left. Most people would not pay attention but if you click them you get a bigger picture.And you can move the little squares about.  WOW!! This is...inscrutable...I think is the word. You can buy off the shelf flash sites which would give a far better presentation of the non-existent content.  Your phrase "after some time in development" suggests something more intricate and elaborate. Nothing could be further from the truth.</description>
